Silver State Peace Officers Museum
The museum features special exhibits on law enforcement in Virginia City. We also feature exhibits on Nevada law enforcement dating back to the 1860s. Our collections include exceptional exhibits on policing the United States with items dating back as far as the 1780s. Needless to say, we believe that our exhibits provide and education into the evolution of the law enforcement profession. In addition we maintain many artifacts from the gangster days. See: John Dillinger's Death Mask and related material. Items related to Al Capone, Bonnie and Clyde, and Baby Face Nelson. Find out what a rattle is and how it relates to the officer on the beat of yesteryear. How did the officer on the beat see in the dark in the 1800s? See how they did it! Visit the Nevada Memorial Room and learn the story of each officer's service and ultimate sacrifice. Experience being locked up in the 1876 Storey County Jail.
