The Assay House vacation rental

The Assay House, built in 1862, is now a charming, historic vacation rental property.  It was originally set up to assess ore during the Virginia  City gold rush era, and it is one of the few structures that survived the great 1875 fire that destroyed much of the city.
The brick exterior is original as are the unique front windows and wood floor in the main section of the house.  The living room has a high ceiling with track lighting, a gas fireplace, ceiling fan, antique hanging lamp, antique furniture, and an old turn of the century safe, which serves as the entertainment center.  The addition to the back, which houses a full modern kitchen and bath along with one bedroom, has an Italian quarry tile floor with radient heat.
Outdoors, there is a lovely garden and quaint bench, where guests can rest and take in the beautiful views of the mountains to the North and East.  There is another seating area with a brick patio that has a wonderful southern view of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the surrounding mountains.
